AES 19 - Things We Loved

The Focusrite team headed to New York to join the Audio Engineering Society's annual convention to see what's new and exciting in the audio world. This year's convention attendee registration was over 14,000, and featured more than 236 exhibiting brands. During the three days of the show, we got the chance to see a diverse display of workshops and presentations, cool new gear, and non-profit organisations making a difference in the music industry. Here are the top things we saw and loved at AES New York 2019

Women's Audio Mission (WAM)

This bay area nonprofit trains and inspires over 2000 women and girls in the audio field. Operating an award-winning curriculum based online, at school sites, and at their very own female-run studio, their goal is to close the gender gap and empower women in the arts, science and technology fields.

"Podcasting: the Fastest Growing Medium in Audio"

Presentation by Focusrite's own Daniel Hughley. This presentation at AES's Recording Stage drew an excited audience of audio professionals eager to learn more about how to podcast and how they can improve their sound. Missed the presentation? Download Daniel's presentation slides here

John Lennon Educational Tour Bus

This nonprofit organization dedicated to educating youth in audio and video production through its mobile facility, made its first time appearance at AES. The organization had a full schedule of performances, giveaways, and tours of its mobile state of the art facility throughout the three days of the AES show.

Mix with the Masters: Sylvia Massey

Sound on Sound's mix engineer and producer masterclass program, Mix with the Masters, hosted a session with legendary producer Sylvia Massey. Most recognized for her work on Tool's double platinum album Undertow among many more, Sylvia Massey provided an enthusiastic audience with inspiration and insight into her workflow.
